Community Activity
Robyn has been busy outside! Entertaining seniors living at St. Teresa Place in Calgary AB. They watch from their windows as she makes chalk drawings. Lot of fun for everyone, seeing the images develop over the course of an afternoon.
It’s a fun way to bring smiles to both the residents and the staff. Pure joy to be able to do this! |
2019 Seniors Week Celebration lunch was held at Airdrie's Town and Country Hall! A wonderful time for all!

Dance For Seniors 2014

Teaming up with our very own Luxstone Manor here in Airdrie, we put on a fun and entertaining dance for our senior population! It was a 1940's theme complete with "street photographer" giving out photos of the attendees if they liked. Residents from Crossfield Lodge joined us too! We accepted donations and raised $235 for the Airdrie Food Bank!
2013 Contest Winner

Congratulations to Monika Sackett of Crossfield!
As written in Airdrie’s very own Here’s The Scoop newspaper: Somebody is going to be having afternoon tea for a bit! To enter the draw for the “Tea For Two” basket from A Friend Indeed, the entrants had to submit a short story about a senior who is significant in their life. Monkia wrote: “I am so lucky to work at the Rocky View Lodge, not only do I have one special senior in my life, I have a whole lodge full. The seniors at the lodge brighten my work day with their kind words, encouragement and always an abundance of hugs. The residents at the Rocky View Lodge have taught me many life lessons through their display of bravery, courage and kindness. It would be too hard to choose just one of the many beautiful people at the Rocky View Lodge.”

2011 Spring Fashion Show at Luxstone Manor
In March 2011, A Friend Indeed teamed up with Luxstone Manor in Airdrie and hosted a fashion show. It was well attended with 77 people in the audience. The models were local senior ladies who live in Airdrie. They were modeling beautiful clothes from Calgary’s own Designer Fashions. It was a great time with laughs, tea, goodies, draws and the lovely violin music of 10 year old Katarina. Everyone was encouraged to bring an item for the Airdrie Food bank upon arrival. We hope to make this an annual event to chase away winter and encourage spring to make its appearance a little sooner!
