I was born in Edmonton and I relocated to Calgary over 25 years. I have a thriving mother who is 97 years young and still resides in Edmonton. I am aware of the blessings and challenges that come with an elderly parent.
We have a small family. My sister and brother in law and my nephew and his wife, along with two children under ten years old. They are the glue that assists with mom’s requirements in Edmonton, while I support from Calgary where I can. I am proud to say she is still living with minimal supports such as an apartment in Independent Living, a housekeeper, in home hairdressing and food/meds delivery. My passion is in helping people and many of my roles have included just that. In my off time, I love to boat, golf, travel and play pickleball. |

I have lived in Airdrie for over 30 years! I am married to a wonderful man and we are celebrating our 23 wedding anniversary this year, and we have two beautiful and talented daughters. Our oldest is attending university in Calgary and our youngest is in grade 8.
My educational background is in Nutrition and Food Services and I enjoyed working at the Foothills Hospital for 21 years. It was always a pleasure to put a smile on someone’s face and help them to have a better day. I also am a certified fitness instructor and have loved every minute of teaching aquasize for the last 27 years! My favorite class is the Over Fifty’s, where I have made many friendships over the years and continue to enjoy all of the wonderful people I meet in the pool. As a family, we enjoy traveling. we had a wonderful time on our latest holiday in Paris and Amsterdam this summer. I also like to keep busy with walking, yoga and family. Family and friends are very important to me, so working with A Friend Indeed has fit very nicely into my life! |

In 2006, while vacationing in Denmark, my husband and I decided it’s time to change our lives and move our whole family (one, girl, two boys and the dog) to Canada. I remember my husband saying “one year from now we will be living in Canada” and I had a hard time believing that.
Well, fast forward 12 months and we arrived in Airdrie, camped out at our new place for the first few weeks since all our belongings were in a seacan somewhere out on the ocean and adapted to a new lifestyle. Enjoying anything outdoors, going camping and hiking while having marshmallows at night at a campfire became regular highlights for us. The kids found lots of new friends, so did we and we couldn’t be happier. I preferred to be a stay-at-home mom until the kids were old enough, now it’s time to explore new waters and put my skills to use in seniors care. I truly enjoy being with them and sharing many stories, theirs and mine alike and it’s great being rewarded with a smile or a hug at the end of a visit. |

I've been in Calgary most of my life. I am the second of 6 children and have 22 nieces and nephews who mostly reside in Calgary. We are a close knit family. I'm definitely a people person.
I worked in recreation in long term care for over 20 years. It was so rewarding and I felt very fortunate to make so many wonderful friends, be a part of their lives and help them to enjoy and appreciate as much of life as possible. In my spare time I enjoy my three grandchildren, biking, hiking, gardening, cooking and card games. I'm looking forward to making new friends and experiences. |

I am the youngest of seven siblings and was born in Hamilton, Ontario. My Dutch parents emigrated to Canada in the 1950's and met each other here. My dad took a job in Saudi Arabia. I remained five years in the Middle East attending middle school and junior high school. Upon "graduating" grade 9 I was sent to boarding school back to Canada, Niagara-On-The-Lake. Living overseas was very shocking and different at first, but I adapted to things soon enough. I was able to enjoy seeing different countries around the world when we took our holidays. This expanded and challenged my worldview at the time but helped me to grow as a young person and allowed me to appreciate different cultural experiences.
As a stay-at-home mom, I have savoured watching my kids grow and develop in to the lovely people that they have become. I home-schooled all my kids for different periods of time as the need arose. Working with seniors is something I have enjoyed since my twenties when I first got to work as a support person, a job which allowed seniors to remain in their homes for as long as possible. I feel blessed to be able to continue this endeavour as our seniors are such a rich, cultural resource due to their varied life experiences and are very fun to be around! |

I’m a mother of 3 boys and have worked as a beautician for the last 35 years. I love working with people and getting to know my clients.
My hobbies include hiking in nature, watching movies especially comedies and cooking. I also like helping and caring for others in my spare time, by visiting local Seniors Homes to cut hair for those who aren’t able to go out. |

As a child I spent four years in France, three years Germany as well as time in different parts of Canada as my dad served in the military. As a young adult, I took floral arranging at Olds college. I still enjoy arranging flowers today. I have always enjoyed plants and have several in my home. I especially love African Violets.
Adult life saw me living in Toronto for 18 years, I then moved to Airdrie in 2004. I been here ever since. After recently retiring from bookkeeping, I have had plenty of time to read, watch movies and do puzzles. I look forward to spring every year because I love gardening. I grow veggies in raised beds and grow flower gardens every year. I enjoy sharing stories, talking about family history, laughing, playing board games and doing crafts. |

I’m an Alberta gal. I grew up on a farm east of Red Deer. I have a husband and three kids. I became an empty nester this year after parenting for 34 years, and, don’t tell my kids but, I’m LOVING it!
In my spare time I enjoy baking, making handmade cards and playing with my 4 grandkids. Seniors are some of my very favorite people in the world and I count it a privilege to spend time with your loved ones. |

I was born in Montreal, Quebec, the second of three children born to a French Canadian father and an Irish Canadian mother.
In 1972 I graduated with a BA in Economics/Political Science from Loyola College and after joining Lafarge in 1972, I was transferred to Calgary, AB During this time I was involved with the local as Regional Data Processing Manager. In Calgary I met my wife of 42 years, Mary. We have a family of 4 sons, which has now expanded to include 3 daughters in law and 2 grandchildren. Our kids were very active in several activities and sports played a large role in their development. During this time I volunteered my time with the local hockey association, coaching & managing teams, serving as a Director, and organizing special tournaments. My wife and I like to travel and usually have a trip every year. We hope to resume our travel plans now that travel restrictions are easing.I continue to play some golf, and enjoy spending time with our two grandchildren, whose activity level make me wonder how we ever managed four kids. |

I've lived in rural Alberta for most of my life, except for a two year period when I was teaching French Immersion in Northern Saskatchewan. I returned to Alberta when my dad had a stroke.
Helping my dad go through recovery made me realize that when people age, we have to take care of their emotional well-being and not just their physical well-being. Companions are important. Friends are important. In my spare time, I drink tea, cross-stitch, read books and hang out with my cats and dogs. I love baking, chocolate making and making ice cream. |

I originally hail from Manitoba, but have been living in the beautiful city of Airdrie for about 20 years now. I have a wonderful husband and 2 very active children that keep me busy. We also share our home with 2 small Morkie dogs – Willy and Jazzy. I recently retired from being a full time teacher. I started teaching in 1995 after obtaining my degree as a teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing. The best part of my teaching career was always the strong connections I made with my students and their families. I look forward to continuing this connection making as I embark on meeting new clients and their families!
Aside from work, I am admittedly very much a homebody. I enjoy spending time with my family, reading, cooking, listening to music, watching my children in their sporting activities and walking my dogs. |

Born in the east – Montreal – and raised in the west – Edmonton – I’ve had the wonderful opportunity to visit much of our diverse country. With still more to see!
My passion for working with Seniors started at age 13 as a “Candystriper” (now I’m dating myself!), Ward Aide and Certified Nursing Aide, and solidified in my ‘50s through gerontological training, volunteering and work in Health Care. In between I pursued a 27-year career with TELUS. I enjoy lifelong learning – who knew that the simple computer or iPhone could provide the wealth of materials, golfing in the summer, and volunteering in areas of interest to me. My current goal? To become more comfortable at speaking French! |

I was born in Penticton B.C and grew up on a cattle ranch. We had a huge garden and orchard and summers were busy with canning all the produce, changing sprinklers and swimming in local lakes and rivers. After college I married and moved to Okotoks, Alberta and started a family. When my kids were small I was hired by Canada Post as Xmas help, which became a career for over 30 years, until I retired as a local area supervisor of the Rural and Suburban mail carriers.
Over the years I volunteered at school, clubs and initiated a literacy program at our library and I coached and played baseball. When the kids finally moved out for good, my husband and I volunteered for the Foothill's Search and Rescue, both as Secretary and Vice President, as well as ground searchers, and were involved in many searches in the mountains, the foothills and locally. I have always loved reading, puzzles, crosswords and a good game of scrabble. We still hike lots and travel to the U.K where my husband still has family. I have always loved working with seniors over the years I feel working at Friends Indeed will give me the opportunity to continue to meet some very interesting people and learn and share our life experiences. |

I am an active senior who loves the out-of-doors even on a cold crisp winter day. I enjoy spending quality time with my daughters, grandsons and my husband.
I was born and raised in the beautiful Okanagan Valley in BC and we moved to Alberta 20 years ago. I enjoy reading, taking walks, playing cards and some board games. Gardening with flowers brings me much joy and peace. Cats and Dogs warm my heart and if I could, I would have more than one of each! I am excited to be accepted as a companion to your loved one and hope to bring a little sunshine into their lives even on the dullest of days. |

I was born and raised in Vancouver, Canada, and later moved to Calgary to start my family. I spent over 40 years working for COOP, where I developed a reputation for strong work ethic and dedication to my organization and team.
Outside of work, I have a wide range of interests that keep me busy. I love spending time in the kitchen, experimenting with new recipes and cooking for my loved ones. I also enjoy camping and taking long walks, especially in the beautiful parks and natural areas that surrounded my home in Calgary. I have a sweet tooth and love baking delicious treats, which I often like to share with my friends and family. I am known to have a great sense of rhythm and loved dancing to music. But above all, I cherish family. I am a devoted mother and grandmother who always makes time for my loved ones, no matter how busy I am with work and hobbies. My children and grandchildren are the light of my life, and I take great joy in spending time with them and watching them grow. |

I have just retired from a 45 year career In teaching. Although I loved my job working with young children, I knew it was time for a change.
I live happily with my husband, who is semi-retired and our dog, Benji. We have a big house and a big yard. We love working out in our yard and have no intention of downsizing any time soon. Both our son and daughter are happily married. Sundays are always a special time in our house, as that is when they both come home with their spouses and dogs and we have our family dinner together. We have a great time sharing caring and having fun and the three dogs (2 chiweenies and a Cavapoo) provide great entertainment racing throughout the house and yard. I enjoy being with people and have provided support and help to many of my friends and family over the years. I am excited to begin this new journey with A Friend Indeed. It will allow me to continue to work with people and provide the friendship and support that they will need. |

I was born in Kingston, Ontario but grew up in Alberta. I'm a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother. My husband and I have 6 adult children and 3 grandchildren.
I'm not afraid to try something new. My husband and I love to travel to the Caribbean and spend three weeks every year in beautiful Lake Country , BC. It's as close to being in the Caribbean without actually leaving the country. There's just nothing like having your toes buried in the sand to clear your mind and heal your soul. I look forward to spending time with your loved one, enhancing their life through connection, conversation and helping them to maintain their daily activities and routines. |

I moved to Alberta from Nova Scotia 17 years ago. I lived in northern Alberta for several years before settling in Carstairs with my family just over 8 years ago.
I come from a healthcare background, mainly in support services and frontline patient care. My experience and career spanned over the better part of 16 years when I decided that it no longer aligned with my and my families wants and needs. In joining A Friend indeed I get to keep doing the part of my job that I loved so much, interacting with and getting to know the people. There was nothing more rewarding than having a visit with some of the most experienced and knowledgeable individuals of our communities. In my spare time you’ll find me at home with my family baking, cooking, teaching my children the art of food preservation and home gardening, as well as quilting and crafting. |

I was born in Chilliwack BC. My Dad was in the Canadian Armed Forces and his final posting was in Penhold. I spent my childhood years in Red Deer. After high school, I went to Marvel Beauty School to become a hair stylist. A change in career meant a move away and we settled in Airdrie to raise our three lively children. During that time, I went back to college and took Interior Design, and later, Floral Design. I worked in a flower shop, which I eventually bought. I owned it for fifteen years and loved every minute of it. The best part was seeing people smile!
My husband and I recently moved back to Red Deer. We wanted to be closer to my mom and sister, who is in Michener Extendicare. I am creative and enjoy painting, crafting, gardening and baking, especially during the holidays. I love meeting new people and am a great conversationalist on any topic. I love learning new things and will try almost anything once . My sense of humour and happy go lucky disposition often make me the life of the party. I enjoy travelling and recently travelled to Spain this past summer with my daughter and grand children. I love nature and enjoy walking and bicycling. My hubby and I love to hit the open road on our motorcycle with friends during the summer. However, my all time greatest joy is spending time with my six grand children. I look forward to becoming a dear Friend to your loved one! |
