About "Capital F Friend"
I am the youngest of seven siblings and was born in Hamilton, Ontario. My Dutch parents emigrated to Canada in the 1950's and met each other here. My dad took a job in Saudi Arabia. I remained five years in the Middle East attending middle school and junior high school. Upon "graduating" grade 9 I was sent to boarding school back to Canada, Niagara-On-The-Lake. Living overseas was very shocking and different at first, but I adapted to things soon enough. I was able to enjoy seeing different countries around the world when we took our holidays. This expanded and challenged my worldview at the time but helped me to grow as a young person and allowed me to appreciate different cultural experiences.
As a stay-at-home mom, I have savoured watching my kids grow and develop in to the lovely people that they have become. I home-schooled all my kids for different periods of time as the need arose.
Working with seniors is something I have enjoyed since my twenties when I first got to work as a support person, a job which allowed seniors to remain in their homes for as long as possible. I feel blessed to be able to continue this endeavor as our seniors are such a rich, cultural resource due to their varied life experiences and are very fun to be around!
