Leaving your long-time home is a big step.

Not just logistically ... but emotionally.

In May 2020, I earned my Seniors Real Estate Specialist® designation. 5 years later, I can honestly say — I still LOVE helping clients in this season of life.

“Senior” is a subjective term. Ask ten people what age it starts, and you’ll get ten answers. In Canada, nearly half the population is over 50. I was born in 1969 — so I’m in that category too! This shift is largely due to the aging baby boomer generation and longer life expectancy.

There’s a good chance someone you LOVE — a parent, grandparent, neighbour or close friend — is preparing to leave their long-time home.

It’s a big step. Not just logistically ... but emotionally.

This move isn’t just about square footage. It’s about decades of memories, comfort and familiarity. It’s okay for it to feel HARD.

Start slowly. Sit together and talk about what matters most - the stories, the keepsakes, the people. Go room by room. Laugh over old photos. Cry if you need to. Invite family members to choose meaningful items. The process can be surprisingly healing.

To the adult children and caregivers: what you’re doing is meaningful — and tough. You don’t have to do it perfectly. It’s okay to feel overwhelmed. It’s okay to ask for help.

If you ever need guidance, information about local resources, or simply someone who understands this transition, I’m here.

And when I say “I get it”… I truly mean it.
